Wrap your hands around a cup of home-made decadent hot chocolate this winter. Easy to make, and fun to customise.

For a single serving you’ll need:

  • Milk – use your favourite kind! Using milk instead of water will make your hot chocolate extra creamy and delicious.

  • 100g chocolate chopped, or 1-2 tablespoons of your favourite hot chocolate mix.

  • Optional flavourings – vanilla essence, spice powers such as cinnamon or cardamom, honey, etc.

  • Optional garnishes - marshmallows, whipped cream, grated chocolate, cocoa powder, caramel sauce, and more.

  • To make your hot chocolate:

Place the milk and either the chocolate or hot chocolate mix in a saucepan over medium-low heat.

Whisk in the chocolate or hot chocolate mix and your preferred flavourings, and heat until warm. For extra froth, use a stick blender. Sweeten to taste.

Serve immediately in a pre-warmed mug, topped with your favourite garnishes.

    Great places to buy supplies:

Sweet Pyrenees, Avoca – add their gourmet flavoured marshmallows for extra flavour and Instagrammable appeal.

The Chocolate Mill, Daylesford – try their superb Ultimate Drinking Chocolate.

Grounded Pleasures, Ballarat – for an array of exquisite drinking chocolates, cocoa, chai, panela, vanilla and marshmallows.
