Police are investigating after more than 2000 cannabis plants were seized from a property in Landsborough last week.

Ballarat Divisional Response Unit detectives executed a search warrant at a property on Leslies Lane, Landsborough last Tuesday morning, where the 2177 plants were located across 10 greenhouses.

A 39-year-old Barkly man attended the property while investigators were there and was arrested at the scene, with police allegedly locating a firearm inside the man’s vehicle.

Investigators later searched a property on Johnsons Gully Road in Barkly and recovered four cannabis plants, with the 39-year-old charged with cultivating a narcotic plant, non-prohibited person possessing a Category A longarm, non-prohibited person possessing cartridge ammunition, handling stolen goods and possessing cocaine.

The man has been bailed and will appear at the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on May 8, with police investigations ongoing in relation to the cannabis plants located in Landsborough.
