Djaa Djuwima meaning ‘to show, share Country’ in Dja Dja Wurrung language is a dedicated and permanent First Nations Gallery at the Bendigo Visitor Centre on Pall Mall in the former Post Office Gallery space.

For First Nations artists, this is a safe place for creative and cultural expression, to explore identity, heritage and connection.

Past exhibitions include, Gurangarr Dja Dja Wurrung Djayi (‘you are on/in Dja Dja Wurrung Country’) and Listening to Our Elders.

The current exhibition, Strength in Stories: This is what we do is a celebration of the artistic talents of First Nations Men, Brotherboys, and Youth via various mediums including wood carving and building, painting, body adornment and digital art.

This exhibition features artists: Alvin Briggs, Bill Whitbread, Justin Sampi, Mick Harding, Stephen Korp, Simon Briggs, Paul Chapman, Tylajae Chavat, Nathan Phillips and Arcade Miller.

Strength in Stories: This is what we do is open daily until Monday 22 January 2024 (except Christmas Day).

This space is owned and operated by the City of Greater Bendigo and exhibitions are curated by the Arts Officer First Nations who is supported by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and Elders through the Wartaka group (‘meeting with purpose’).
