Zonta launch new campaign
Zonta Club of Central Goldfields have launched a new campaign for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

With the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence now underway globally, the Zonta Club of Central Goldfields have launched a new campaign and, although seemingly small, it’s hoped to have a widespread impact.
Members of the Zonta club are asking the community to join them in the upcoming 16 Days of Activism campaign, which runs from today, November 25 until Wednesday, December 10.
As part of the club’s ongoing efforts around the 16 Days of Activism campaign, they have launched the new Yes to Respectful Relationships Coffee Cup campaign, centred around the simple idea of takeaway coffee cups featuring messages promoting respectful relationships.
While a small gesture, with over 20 local businesses and events taking part — it’s sure to raise some eyebrows.
“Our aim is simple: to spark conversations, get people talking about family violence and challenge harmful attitudes. After purchasing their coffee, we hope they do not bin it but take it home, back to their workplace,” the Zonta club said.
“The club hopes that by putting this message into everyday life, people will build on the simple, but powerful message that respect is the key to healthy relationships and strong communities.”
All cafes, businesses and events taking part will receive the cups free of charge thanks to sponsorship from the Community Bank Avoca, Maryborough and St Arnaud.
The Coffee Cup campaign is only one of a number of activities taking place during the 16 Days.
Other events taking place include the Central Goldfields Shire Council’s sponsored “Z for Respect” Flower bed in Phillips Gardens, which will be unveiled today.
The Zonta club will paint nails orange on November 28, while buildings across the municipality will be lit up in orange as a sign of the campaign.
On December 6 there will be a ‘Say No’ Parkrun event and on December 10, a walk against family violence will take place.
