COMMUNITY NEWS: Zonta Event Impresses

The Zonta Club of Central Goldfields recently held its successful International Rural Women's Day Dinner at The Bull and Mouth Hotel. The event was very well attended, with the Maryborough NAB branch providing a grant which assisted with costs and enabled Zonta to invite guests from all walks of life, who live in and around Maryborough district

The guest speaker was Sally Hailey, granddaughter of Doctor Mary Kent Hughes, who was a trail blazer for women. She was one of the first women to be allowed to study medicine in Australia. Sally shared highlights and family stories of this remarkable woman.
