A host of the Maryborough district’s best young talents have had success at interleague level, earning selections to squads.

Maryborough’s Oliver Cassidy has earned selection to the Bendigo Junior Football League (BJFL) under-15 boys interleague squad, which will see the BJFL take on the Ballarat Football Netball League tomorrow.

Cassidy has been an early standout for the Magpies in the under 16 senior competition in the BJFL, kicking nine goals from six games, and recently brought up his 100th game for the club.

Ella Patten will be off to Melbourne for a second consecutive season for the Netball Victoria championships, with the young Maryborough netballer and her 17 and under Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL) representative teammates taking out the Netball Victoria Northern Association Championships in Mildura.

Patten continues to stand out with her defensive application when needed, with her reach and read of the play an asset for the BFNL’s 17 and under team.

In the under 16s Ballarat Football League Women’s com-petition, Rhani Evans has earned selection to the under 16 interleague team following continued great form for Caris-brook under 16s.

Evans, a selection with the Bendigo Pioneers under 16 squad this season, has been named in the best on four of her six games, and has been a goalkicker, adding two goals for the season.
