Thanks to Victoria’s wild weather on Tuesday, the final round of the midweek pennant was declared unplayable, meaning the season is over and all attention now turns to the finals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the same four teams who make up the top four in division one of the weekend pennant also makes up the same top four, of the midweek pennant.
The only change compared to Saturday’s lawn bowls action sees Highland Tartan assume the minor premiership and warm favourites when they take on Dunolly Blue at Avoca.
Two thrillers have defined this match up in 2023/24, with the round seven game decided by just one shot, with Highland Tartan winning 55-54.
The return leg was also close, but it was Highland Tartan who again reigned supreme, and despite taking the sweep, worked hard to earn a 70-61 result.
In the other semi-final, Talbot and Avoca will look to move into the preliminary final when they meet at the Highland Society.
Both teams have taken a victory apiece this year, and will have confidence going into Tuesday.
In round three, it was Talbot’s day as they took a narrow 60-57 victory. But in round 12, Avoca took a commanding 62-48 win in a game where they finished one shot short of achieving the sweep.
