TALBOT 10.8 (68) def AVOCA 3.6 (24)

Avoca headed to Talbot confident of a good showing against the Hawks, but it was not to be as Talbot won by 44 points.

The game was played in wet and slippery conditions, and a see-sawing first half saw Talbot take the ascendancy early with two goals to nil in the first quarter, before Avoca hit back with three goals to two in the second quarter to reduce the margin to six points at half time.

But after the main break, Talbot took control in the third term to kick five goals in succession while holding Avoca scoreless and it was virtually game over by the final change.

It was a hard-fought slog in the final quarter in difficult conditions as the Hawks could only manage one goal while keeping the Bulldogs to a solitary point.

Talbot put on a show for the big crowd that was in attendance for their premiership reunions and sponsors day, and it was a very happy home crowd as a result.

Talbot’s Jayson Atkins is in brilliant form and was again named as their best player, along with Sam Hitchings, Zack Graham, Jude McGuire, and Brendon Hedger, with Matt Bond snagging five of Talbot’s 10goals.

Avoca’s best were Joel Antonio, Ryan Kitchin, Jason Hunt, Brett Monk, and Zack Lubeek.
