Trial ends, accused pleads guilty to murder
On Friday, Lachlan Young admitted he murdered his ex-partner Hannah McGuire.

Eight days into his trial, the man accused of murdering 23-year-old Clunes woman Hannah McGuire has pleaded guilty.
Lachlan Young had previously pleaded not guilty to murdering his former partner in April 2024.
He claimed that while he did kill his ex-partner he did so without murderous intent, the ABC reported.
However, on Friday, more than a week into a five-week Supreme Court trial and before a packed courtroom, Mr Young admitted he murdered Ms McGuire.
The ABC reported that after Mr Young was escorted from court the public gallery “hugged, cheered, clapped and wept”.
Mr Young will return to court later this week, with sentencing to be handed down at a future date.
