Trentham win first game of the season over Creek
Trentham have finally broken their duck, earning their first win of the season in a decisive 46-goal victory over Campbells Creek.

After coming so close on multiple occasions with some great performances in their first six matches, including a draw against Dunolly, the Saints can now turn their attention to a potential finals push, sitting six points behind without having their bye.
While the Magpies made no changes from their loss to Carisbrook, Trentham welcomed back two recognisable faces as Hayley Bourke returned to the side for the first time since round four, and talented shooter Tarnee Hammond made her season debut.
Hammond wasted no time making an impact, charging the Saints towards an 11-goal lead at quarter time with 19 first-quarter goals.
Sharna Ford assisted Hammond’s efforts with two goals of her own while Magpies duo Jemma Finning and Elouise Jones started well with five goals each.
While their offence continued to run hotter than a V8 engine in the second quarter, the Saints defensive pressure across the court was just as exquisite.
The hosts allowed just seven shots on goal, winning the second term 21-4 to build an almost insurmountable 28-goal advantage at half-time.
Hammond continued to cause problems for the Magpies, matching her first-quarter output in the second term from just 21 attempts while Ford scored two.
Jones and Finning did the most with their limited opportunities, netting two goals each.
Both teams decided to make substitutions at the main break, with the Magpies regaining their footing to start the second half after the decision to pair Lizzy Clarke with Taylah Sartori in defence proved fruitful.
Campbells Creek also started breaking through the Trentham defence with regularity, allowing Jones to net six and Finning to score three.
It wasn’t enough to decrease the deficit however, as Hammond’s 12 goals and Ford’s one allowed the Saints to extend their lead to 32 at the end of the quarter.
Trentham put the icing on the cake of their first victory in 2025, outscoring Campbells Creek 18-4 in the final quarter off the back of another strong defensive quarter.
Hammond completed a remarkable comeback, scoring 66 goals for the match with a shooting percentage just below 80.
After being subbed into the goal circle midway through the third, Bourke added two to the scoreboard in the final quarter for the Saints.
Finning top-scored for the Magpies in the final quarter with three goals while Jones added one.
