Trentham warmed up for their finals campaign with a 19-goal victory over Talbot.
Both teams knew their fate coming in to this game, however, the two teams still had something to play for — the Hawks were looking for their first win of the season, while Trentham were looking to get their game plan right ahead of their cut-throat elimination final against Maldon next weekend.
The Saints’ first quarter was perfectly executed, scoring 15 goals to three to take a commanding 12-goal lead at the first change.
To their credit, Talbot started to play some good netball afterwards. In the second quarter, the Hawks were able to score 11 goals while restricting the Saints to 13, trailing 14-28 at half time.
In what was a higher-scoring repeat of the second quarter, Trentham were again able to edge out the Hawks in the third quarter, scoring 16 goals to 14 to ensure they’d lead 44-28 at the final break.
Trentham then ran out the game effectively, scoring 12 goals to nine to take their 56-37 victory.
Best players were not provided prior to print deadline.
Sharna Ford had one of her best outings of the year for the Saints, scoring 35 goals, while a player not in the system led the way with 27 goals for Talbot.
