Trentham continued their undefeated start to the season, racking up their fifth consecutive win thanks to a third-quarter burst against Maryborough Rovers.
It was a very tight first half, with both teams not giving an inch, before the Saints were able to clear away.
The Saints took a narrow lead going into the first change, scoring eight goals to seven, before it was Rovers’ turn to score eight goals to seven in the second, with scores locked at 15 apiece at the main break.
But it was Trentham who did all the running in the third quarter, breaking the game open with 14 goals to Rovers’ nine to take a five-goal lead into the last quarter.
From there, it was Trentham who kept Rovers at arms’ length, scoring eight goals to seven to finish six-goal winners.
The spread of goalscorers for both teams were on display. Sharna Ford scored 18 goals for the Saints, with Zahlia Turton adding 14.
For Rovers, Bec Dewhirst and Abbey Raven both scored 14 each.
