A first-quarter offensive allowed Trentham to maintain a solid gap over Newstead all day, and allowed them to stay in the top four race.

A very quick 20-goal to seven start allowed the Saints to open up a 13-goal lead at the first change.

Newstead tried their utmost to get back into the game in the second quarter, but, despite scoring 12 goals, they were unable to make any inroads on the margin, with the Saints adding another 13 to extend their lead to 14 at the main break.

Trentham again put the foot to the floor in the third quarter and picked up their scoring, adding 18 goals to the Kangaroos’ 11 to seal the game, leading by 22 at the final change.

In a high-scoring final term, both teams’ goal circles were able to score at will, with the Saints adding 18 goals and the Kangaroos scoring 14, but it was the former who proved too strong, finishing with a 26-goal triumph.

Sharna Ford dominated in the Saints’ goal circle, scoring 41 goals, while Hayley Bourke added 28.

Meantime, for the Kangaroos, Verity Gartside scored 31 goals, and Gina Ross 12.
