CAMPBELLS CREEK 4.4 (28) def by TRENTHAM 31.16 (202)

Trentham did what needed to be done, accounting for a much-improved Campbells Creek by 174 points.

The Magpies were able to put in a solid fight, despite the discrepancy between the skill level in both teams, knowing that they had been well-beaten by Carisbrook by 328 points last week.

Nevertheless, the Saints were able to piece together 31 goals ahead of what looks to be an offensive showdown with the free-wheeling Carisbrook in week one of the finals.

The Saints were able to get off to a good start, kicking nine goals to one in the first term to open 50 points in front, and were able to extend their lead to 96 points at the main break by kicking seven goals to two behinds.

In the third term, the Saints were able to kick eight goals to one to take their lead to 150 points, before they eased to victory, kicking seven goals to two in the last term.

A host of goalkickers played their part for the Saints, with Cooper Webber-Mirkin providing the hot hand with seven goals, while Jake Keogh added five and Joel Dovaston provided four.

Joel Cowan was best on ground, with Webber-Mirkin, Dylan Holden, Harrison Knight, Christopher Whelan and Taylor Ford all named in the best.

For Campbells Creek, Sean Moss and Nicholas O’Brien kicked two goals apiece, with Justin Allison, Jordan Baker, Benjamin Carson, Hadley Bassett, O’Brien and Max Stewart all named in their best.
