Trentham are back on track and back in the top four race after defeating Maldon by 14 goals on Saturday.

A big second quarter was the difference for the Saints, who cleared away after quarter time to keep the winless Dons at bay.

It was a tight start, with Tren-tham scoring eight goals to five in the opening quarter to take a narrow three-goal lead into the first change.

But it was the 12 goals the Saints scored, while restricting the Dons to six, in the second quarter which allowed them to control their destiny for the remainder of the afternoon, with the Saints controlling a nine-goal lead at the main break.

That proved to be crucial when Maldon tried to fight back in the third, with the Dons adding eight goals, but the Saints held firm in scoring nine goals to increase their lead to 10 goals at the final change.

The Saints finished strongly, scoring eight goals to five to eventually run out comfortable winners.

Hayley Bourke scored 22 goals, while Sharna Ford added 16 for the Saints, while for Maldon, Ainsley Taft and Zoe Backway scored 12 goals apiece.
