Booktown in March
1 min read

Clunes Booktown Festival returns to the historic township a few months earlier this year, on the last weekend of March (Saturday 25 and Sunday 26).

Kadir Hussein is chair of Creative Clunes, which organises the event. Kadir said the change of date will take advantage of the autumn weather

“We are thrilled to be bringing Booktown to a warmer Clunes climate so that we can all enjoy our love of printed publications, books and the highly sought-after collectable editions,” Kadir said.

An extended program highlights storytelling through books, film, music, theatre, songwriting, photography and other visual arts.

The festival will continue to celebrate every aspect of the book – not just writing and reading but making, illustrating, publishing, retailing, and sharing. As well as books on display and for sale, the weekend will feature conversations with writers and storytellers, renowned authors, poets and wordsmiths.

New to Booktown is an evening of live music in the old Central Garage from Kee’ahn, The Idiomatics, The Footscray Gypsy Orchestra and a David Bridie album launch to cap it off.

Surrounding the talks, workshops and book signings will be live entertainment, street performers, plenty of activities for families and kids, as well as food and beverages from local providores and producers.
