It was another tough day for the Maryborough Soccer Club as third-placed Forest flexed their muscle to win 10-0.

Despite the discrepancy between the two teams, Maryborough worked hard to try to generate opportunities, but were ultimately outclassed by a disciplined Forest team.

Forest had a penalty in the early stages of the game, but was sensationally denied by Bayden Macintyre, who correctly guessed the ball was headed for the bottom left corner and saved well.

But it was a matter of time before Forest breached the Maryborough goal, and it came in the 17th minute when Billy Mroczkowski scored.

From there, it was the Ajay Thapa show, with Thapa completing a 14-minute hattrick to have Forest 4-0 up by the 39th minute, before adding another to make the half time score 5-0.

Maryborough continued to fight hard as the second half started, and were successfully able to keep Forest out for 19 minutes, but Thapa’s fifth goal in the 64th minute opened up the floodgates, with five goals scored in 11 minutes, with Thapa scoring another three goals to take his afternoon’s tally to eight.

Maryborough now move on to a matchup with Creswick on Sunday.
