With two rounds to go, it appears the midweek ladder is all but sorted.
Highland Tartan have almost put a dagger into Carisbrook’s season, consigning them to a 91-29 loss in a dominant performance.
Jan Turner defeated Eric Symons 28-8, while Leanne Wallis had an even more dominant performance, winning 31-6 over Phillip Burt. Gregory Shay finished off the job with a 32-15 win over Denise Matic.
Dunolly Blue kept up the chase for the minor premiership thanks to an 84-45 win over stablemates Dunolly Gold.
Blue weren’t messing around in their attempts to stay in the race for top spot, with Margaret Davies winning 24-13 over Jill Morse, while Alan Weir won a thrilling game over Jim Haigh 22-21. Tony Galofaro had a dominant 38-11 win over Barry Mortlock to seal 16 competition points.
Talbot landed an important psychological blow in what looks likely to be a sudden death semi-final preview with a 72-57 win over Avoca.
Robert Jackson defeated Christine Bearpark 30-19, while Paul Radstock won 26-17 over Ann Loosmore. Avoca took two competition points thanks to Daniel Giddings’ 21-16 victory over Barb Crossley.
Highland Gold escaped the race for the wooden spoon thanks to a 67-37 victory over Maryborough Golf, who are now mired at the bottom by 22 points.
Tony Lacey defeated Elizabeth Bucknall 25-15, while Lowen Clarke defeated Marian Webb 22-10. Albert Spencer finished off the job by taking a 20-12 victory over Donna Bauer.
On Tuesday, the important clash will see Highland Tartan look to preserve top spot against a Talbot team that will look to show that the premiership race consists of more than two teams.
Dunolly Blue could take advantage of any Highland Tartan slip-up when they take on Highland Gold, with a win and a Highland Tartan loss almost certainly giving Blue the minor premiership.
Avoca will look to completely lock up their finals spot when they play Maryborough Golf, while Carisbrook and Dunolly Gold meet. Should Carisbrook win and Avoca lose, it will set up a last round showdown for fourth spot on the midweek ladder.
