The Maryborough Theatre Company is set to host a trivia night with a twist this month as part of an interactive performance event.

A fundraising event for the group, the trivia night also doubles as an opportunity for residents to experience a taste of the local performing arts talent in the area.

Trivia Night Showdown promises to be a lively and entertaining event that challenges residents’ knowledge across categories like sport and geography, with a healthy dose of fun mixed through the evening.

The theatre company’s Quetta Holloway-Jinks said while similar to regular trivia nights, this one promises to be fun and engaging.

“The night is similar to a regular trivia night where there are different rounds and someone reads questions out,” she said.

“We also have three talent rounds with live performances from theatre members with some dancing, famous one-liners and songs.

“The aim is to try and tie the night in with the whole theatre and performing arts side of things while raising a bit of money as well.”

Unable to hold its usual shows and performances since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the theatre company is looking to re-introduce itself to the community and maybe even attract new members.

“We’re hoping that by doing a trivia night this way it’ll be a little bit different and will show people in the community that there is a theatre company here,” Ms Holloway-Jinks said.

“We’re also hopeful that by giving a taste of some of the local talent we have, people might think they’d like to join in and get involved.

“Because of COVID we haven’t had a proper show for a number of years and we felt this was a good way to reintroduce ourselves to the community.”

Four of the 10 tables available on the night have already been bought, with tickets $25 each and including a tapas meal and one drink.

The Trivia Night Showdown will take place from 7 until 9.30 pm at the Maryborough Golf Club on Friday, May 19.

Tickets are available for purchase via the Maryborough Sleeping Star Productions or Town Attached Productions Facebook pages.
