2015
To kickstart February in 2015, The Advertiser reported that Capilano Honey was set to return to Maryborough. The news came some three years since Capilano’s Maryborough factory was staffed.
The Avoca Shire Turf Club rallied support 10 years ago this month, as it faced the prospect of losing its December race meeting.
Four representatives stood for election in the Tullaroop Ward by-election, with Alex Stoneman, Jefferson Hoober, Hayden Stewart and Helen Broad running for the council seat.
2005
McPherson’s Printing Group Maryborough staff were unable to reach a majority decision on a proposed enterprise agreement, with votes split almost 50 percent each way.
Construction of the Maryborough Education Precinct, now known as the Maryborough Education Centre, was well and truly underway.
A 2500 gram gold nugget was discovered north of Maryborough, believed to be worth more than $65,000.
1975
All of 50 years ago, the Dunolly Lions Club became the youngest club in the nation and was officially chartered.
Highview Christian Community College began a $100,000 appeal, after the Australian Schools’ Commission assured the school of ongoing support if there was local input.
