Teen stable following crash

A teenager has been flown to hospital following a single vehicle collision that occurred in Wareek last Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Maryborough-St Arnaud Road just after 12.30 pm on Friday, January 30 after a vehicle collided with a tree.

Ambulance Victoria (AV), SES, Wareek Fire Brigade and local police attended the incident alongside VicRoads who managed traffic as crews tried to remove the driver.

Maryborough Police Sergeant Jamie Coles said the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

“The collision was a single vehicle into a tree, a single occupant had injuries, and was airlifted to Melbourne. The cause is unknown at this stage,” she said.

AV confirmed the driver is in a stable condition after sustaining injuries.

“AV responded to reports of an incident in Wareek at about

12.20 pm,” they said.

“A specialist air AV helicopter crew and advanced life support paramedics attended the scene. A teenage girl was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition with a lower body injury.”

The cause of the collision is under investigation with the Goldfields Highway Patrol unit.
