Team Lazaros win six interstate medals
Team Lazaros BJJ & Muay Thai’s Mickey, Bella and Alayla Savvidis recently went on a very successful trip to Sydney, taking home three golds and three silvers.
The trio competed at the NSW BJJ Federation 2025 Summer Cup, held at the Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness complex on Sunday, November 23.
Alayla Savvidis was the standout in a batch of impressive individual performances, winning golds in the Juvenile Girls Gi and No-Gi Blue Juvenile 2 categories.
Alayla was flawless on her way to her two gold medals, winning all four matches by submission.
Bella Savvidis also earned a gold medal in the Girls Gi Grey Junior III competition, following a 40-second submission win in the semi-final before taking a tight points victory in the final.
Bella attempted to make it two bracket victories in the Girls No-Gi Grey Teen II event, but fell just short in a hard-fought final by submission.
Mickey Savvidis completed Team Lazaros’ impressive haul with two silver medals in the Boys Gi and No-Gi Grey Teen II competitions, recovering quickly from an early loss in the Boys Gi Grey Teen II event to reach the final, where he was defeated by submission.
