Team Lazaros find success in WA raid
Team Lazaros BJJ & Muay Thai member Alayla Savvidis recently had a very successful trip to Western Australia, winning a quartet of gold medals at their state championships.

Savvidis travelled to Perth earlier this month to compete at the championships, entering into four separate categories.
After winning four gold medals in June at the Victorian Jiu-Jitsu Championships and the Queensland BJJ State Championships, Savvidis was determined to add some extra gold to her already expansive trophy cabinet.
Starting in the Juvenile Girls Gi competition, Savvidis wasted no time dominating the final, scoring some good points early which forced her opponent to take some risks late in the match.
That allowed Savvidis to lock in a submission, winning the match with time to spare to claim her first gold medal.
Next for Savvidis was the Juvenile Girls Absolute Gi competition which went straight into the gold medal match.
Unlike her first final, this gold medal contest was a tense affair, with points hard to come by.
In the end, Savvidis held her nerve, remaining patient and striking when opportunities presented themselves, leading to a 4-2 points victory and a second gold medal.
With Savvidis winning the Juvenile Girls No-Gi and the Juvenile Girls Absolute No-Gi competition via walkover, she travelled back to Maryborough after winning all four of her entered categories.
