The clash between Talbot and Dunolly started very interestingly before it ended in the worst possible way, with the game called off due to a serious player injury.

Both teams made two changes to their personnel for this match, with Talbot’s Georgie Finch and Jane Costello subbing in for Naomi Henderson and Elenoa Costello and Teagen Hovey and Cleo Lindsay coming in for Dunolly.

Even with Talbot entering the game as favourites, Dunolly started the game the better side, outrunning the Hawks with their higher tempo to lead by three goals at the first break.

With shooters dealing with windy, changeable conditions at Talbot Recreation Reserve, Dunolly duo Zoe Aldridge and Lillie Wrigley did well to score eight and five goals respectively.

With Elenoa Costello absent after her impactful debut, Jess White, who’s played goal keeper this season, was drafted in, netting five goals while Eleisha Phelps also made five from seven attempts.

Hot shooting from Phelps got the Hawks in the driver’s seat up 22-18 midway through the second quarter before the game was called off.

Talbot will be awarded the four points from the fixture.

Phelps scored 11 of her 12 attempts in the term while Shianne Milera added one after she was moved into the goal circle to start the period.

Aldridge top-scored for Dunolly with four while Wrigley netted one.
