Talbot stamped their authority on the A reserve com-petition, and go into Saturday’s final against Clunes after taking a 140-run victory over Natte Yallock.
The star of the show was Muzakkir Mohiuddin Mohammed, who put together his best performance of the season with 86 runs to help the Yabbies accelerate the run-rate sufficiently enough after drinks.
Scott Cameron and Ryan Kenden opened the batting, but Kenden was first to go for nine off the bowling of Zac Mortlock with the score on 11.
Cameron and Jack Kenden was able to pick up the pace a little bit to get the score to 41 shortly thereafter before Jack’s dismissal, with Noah Elliott striking.
Karl Gunther came in and helped get the score up to 80 before Cameron was dismissed for 22, and the Yabbies were in a little bit of trouble when Daniel Vadala ran through the middle order, with Jorde Bux (6), Gunther (34) and Jag Searle (0) allowing Vadala to claim four wickets.
But Mohammed’s excellent innings, alongside Lachlan Griffiths, gave Talbot a platform after the drinks break, as they put on 67 runs for the seventh wicket.
Eventually, Griffiths would fall to Callum Liddicoat for 18, but Mohammed wasn’t done yet.
He anchored the remainder of the innings to remain unbeaten on 86, as the Yabbies finished all out for 216 in the second-last over.
Vadala’s haul of 4/32 was noteworthy off five overs, while Mortlock took 2/27.
Much of the Swans chances of chasing down 217 hinged on the bats of their top order, but they didn’t get the start they wanted when Vadala was removed in the second over by Jack.
Soon, Searle would have a wicket, bowling Zac for a duck.
However, Trent and Liddicoat put on a solid partnership to get the Swans back on track, putting on 47 for the third wicket.
But when Bux managed to get Trent to nick a ball straight to Searle at slip, it sparked a collapse from which the Swans would never recover from.
Benjamin Smith was removed on the very next ball, bowled by Bux, before Streeter was Bux’s third victim of the day.
Natte’s chances were over when Liddicoat was removed by Lachlan Roche for 31, and they lost their last three wickets quickly to be all out for 76.
Bux was the star with the ball, taking 3/17, while Roche finished with 2/5.
