The Talbot Town Hall Community Market is set to re-launch under a new name this Sunday, ushering in a new era for the organising committee.
The market, which has been running since 1968, serves as a monthly fundraising event for the Talbot Town Hall.
This Sunday’s event marks a first in many ways for the market, with it now operating as the Talbot Town Hall Community Market (formerly the Talbot Town Hall Market) and run solely by volunteers.
The market committee’s president Aileen Marshall said the committee is committed to seeing the market grow in popularity under their leadership.
“We are excited to welcome some fresh faces on the committee and we all feel really passionate about seeing the market return to its strong community-based roots.
“The Talbot Town Hall Community Market is really important to our community — plus, it’s also a significant fundraiser for the Talbot Town Hall,” she said.
“As a committee, we are excited for its future and dedicated to its continued success and to providing a great experience for our stallholders.
“New stallholders and volunteers for our market are most welcome. Likewise, if you are keen to join our committee of management and be involved in the future of the market we encourage you to nominate with us.”
The management of the market was formerly outsourced to a contractor, however, with a change in leadership, the committee decided to bring management of the market back into the hands of volunteers and to ensure funds raised would contribute to the upkeep of the town hall.
Central Goldfields Shire Paddy’s Ranges Ward councillor Chris Meddows-Taylor said he was very much looking forward to attending the Talbot Town Hall Community Market re-launch on Sunday.
“Congratulations to the new committee of management for their passion, tenacity and community spirit over the last few months as they have worked hard behind the scenes to ensure the market will prosper into the future,” he said.
“The Talbot Town Hall Community Market, and the Talbot Farmers’ Market, are highly valued and much-loved by our local community.
“They not only drive tourism but create social opportunities for residents to come together and connect while supporting our wonderful stallholders at the same time.
“I wish the committee every success for a successful market day on Sunday.”
The Talbot Town Hall Community Market will take place this Sunday, February 18 from 9 am onwards.
