Avoca came desperately close to taking their first win of the season, but were unable to hold on to a narrow three-quarter-time lead as Talbot held on to cement their spot in the top eight.

In a very exciting contest, the biggest margin for the day was 11 points at the main change in favour of the Hawks.Avoca has struggled in the third term all season, but they gave their all against the Hawks on Saturday, and kicked four goals to two in the third quarter to lead by a point the final break.

Talbot kicked the first goal in the final quarter to take the upper hand as they pressured the Bulldogs into making some errors which proved costly for the home team, as they fell short of taking their first victory of the season.

Talbot’s Trent Barrass continued his consistent season with another best player award, while Jude McGuire, Adam Scott, Darcy Osborne, and Matthew York were also solid contributors in the Hawks victory.

Logan Hayles, Scott Cawthan and Jordy Hayes played well for the Bulldogs as did Reece Wynd, Bryce Howell and Zack Lubeek, who slotted four goals for the home team.
