Natte Bealiba proved too strong for Carisbrook in a gritty Saturday afternoon game which has all but sealed a top two spot for the Swans.

The victory sees the Swans now three games clear of third-placed Brook, who themselves now fall into the clutches of the chasing pack, with Harcourt and Lexton behind the Redbacks by just percentage only.

The first quarter was a prelude of what was to come, with goals at a premium for both teams. They’d combine for just 14 goals in the first quarter, with Natte scoring eight goals to six to take a narrow lead.

Natte built on their lead in the second quarter, scoring 10 goals, while restricting the Redbacks to just four to ensure they’d lead 18-10 at the main break.

The third quarter was the highest scoring quarter of the day, and while the Redbacks did everything to get back into the game, they could not hold off a powerful Swans side, who outscored Brook 13-7 to lead 31-17 at the final change.

The Swans were able to outscore Brook 10 goals to six in the last quarter, rewarded for an excellent defensive performance to win 41-23.

Naomi Medlyn, Anna Mortlock and Shannae Mills were adjudged the Swans’ best players, while Melissa Oliver scored 32 goals.

For Carisbrook, Amelia Jarvis, Janae Lanfranchi and Andrea Schafer were their best players, with Georgia Bell leading the way on the scoresheet with 14 goals.
