Natte Bealiba continues to harry Avoca at the top of the ladder with a 40-goal victory over Newstead at Newstead.
The Swans were looking for a fast start to ensure that they could control the pace, and got what they needed thanks to a 20-goal to eight start to lead by 12 goals at the first change.
Emma Ryan scored 15 goals and Polly Douglas five for the Swans, while for the Kangaroos, Tayla Gale scored seven times and Bri Jury once.
The second quarter showed that the Swans were not prepared to let up throughout the afternoon, scoring 17 goals to six for the quarter to extend their lead to 23 at the main break, leading 37-14. Ryan scored 10 goals and Douglas seven for the Swans, while Jury and Gale scored three times each for Newstead.
The third quarter saw the Swans at their brutal best as they suffocated Newstead’s ball move-ment, only allowing the Kangaroos to generate four looks at goal for the term, while scoring 16 times themselves as they moved 36 goals clear at the final change, leading 53-17. Ryan scored 15 goals for the Swans, while Shannae Mills added one, while for the Kangaroos, Gale scored twice and Jury once.
Newstead, to their credit, finished off the game well, scoring 10 goals, but it was the Swans’ day as they finished with 14 more goals. Ryan scored 12 goals to finish with 52 for the day, while Mills added two, and for Newstead, Jury scored seven goals to finish with 12 goals, and Gale three to finish with 15.
The Kangaroos now hold eighth position by a game and percentage, and will face another difficult task against the Giants next week, while the Swans will host Maldon.
