The final margin of 10 goals perhaps doesn’t do the battle Natte Bealiba had justice in their efforts to overcome Trentham.
A great third-quarter fightback from the Saints saw them reduce the margin to just one goal at the final change, but Natte had other ideas and prevented the Saints from inflicting the Swans’ second loss of season 2022.
It was the Swans who got off to the better start, scoring 10 goals to five in the opening quarter to lead at quarter time.
The second quarter was a tightly contested one, with both teams scoring nine goals to leave the Swans sitting five goals up at the main break.
With Trentham fighting to stay in touch with the top four, they would enjoy their strongest patch of the game, scoring 12 goals while restricting the Swans to eight for the quarter, and closing to within a goal at the final break.
However, the Swans got their attacking game back on track, scoring 17 goals in the last quarter while holding the Saints to just eight goals to eventually run out 10-goal winners.
For the victorious Swans, Sharelle Martin, Jess White and Ella Tranter were awarded the votes, with Sian Mortlock leading the way in the goal circle with 22 goals.
Elysia Rose was a standout for Trentham, scoring 26 goals, ably supported by Brooke Healy and Jade Cass.
