There was some recent success for Maryborough youngster Ella Govan, competing in her first taekwondo state championship.

Govan competed in the Victorian State titles in August, which was also doubling up as a selection event for the national championships, which will be held in Perth in October.

Govan, who transitioned from gymnastics to taekwondo just over three years ago, was able to take home a bronze medal, with her family, head instructors Brian and Heather Carr, and club member Staci Jones supporting her throughout.

It was a reward for Govan’s commitment to her training, and she is pleased with her result, and is now working towards her goal of obtaining her Black Belt next year.
