Oh what a night! The W Hotel in Melbourne saw over 100 people gather on July 27 as the spotlight shone once again on the cream of the Mitsubishi sales network.

After two years of pandemic-forced absence, dealers and sales representatives couldn’t wait to celebrate the Vic/Tas Diamond Sales Guild Awards.

The judging process is exhaustive, it includes scoring sales representatives on their performance through regular feedback from customer surveys to find out which ones truly deserve the highly prized certificates.

Once again, AG Leech Mitsubishi received a gong for outstanding performance in sales and customer care.

Sales representative Stewart Forbes, attended the evening to pick up his second Master Sales Guild Award.

Stewart’s 2021 award was sent to him in the mail, so receiving the 2022 award in person was special.

“It was an honour to be able to attend and receive my award,” he said.

“Dealerships large and small have worked so hard to get through these extremely challenging times so it was good to celebrate the occasion in style.

Dealer principal Paul Leech also attended with his wife Nicole, to help Stewart celebrate his win.

“It was a terrific night. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to see so many people from the industry again and to see Stewart receive his award,” he said.

“As Stewart has said, the past two years have been such a struggle for so many, but this amazing industry simply refuses to be beaten and rises to whatever challenges are thrown at it.”

To earn his title of master salesman, Stewart believes his power of conversation with customers and an understanding of their needs is a big factor.

“I am always trying to value the time of customers who trust me and visit me,” he said.

“Whenever I’ve had meetings with customers I have recommended the most suitable car for each person and take responsibility for customers after a sale.”

Product training and self-development is also a score category for the award.

“I try to prepare for the future through constant self-development courses from Mitsubishi so I can actively handle rapidly changing automotive market trends,” he said.

Stewart, a baker by trade, has spent the past seven years in the automotive trade having started as a car dealer.

“I’ve always loved cars and so, once in the industry, I was willing to work hard to achieve my goals,” he said.

And work he has, for in a span of seven years this man alone has sold over 1500 motor vehicles.

Stewart believes building relationships of trust and respect with his customers is the real secret of success.

“I make sure that the words that come out of my mouth will help people buy from me. If I’m not sure, I keep my mouth shut and I never lie or ever break a promise,” he said.

“I am thankful for the support that Paul Leech and Chris Keen have given me and for the support of my many customers.”
