The Bealiba Pony Club had some very strong results at the Games, Flat and Musical Ride State Championships across the weekend of June 24 and 25 in Bacchus Marsh.

Competing in the mounted games, flat ride pairs and musical ride categories, Bealiba were able to take two golds and a fourth place under the guidance of coach Kellie Barnett.

In the flat ride pairs, Ingrid Gould and Nicole Catto were the winners, registering a score of 129.5 in the pairs ride and 32 in the unrehearsed ride to finish with a score of 161.5, winning by three points from Mornington Peninsula.

Another team in the goldfields area, from Maldon, finished in fourth position.

In the musical ride, two Bealiba teams competed, which consisted of a team that dressed as Smurfs, as well as one that competed as The Girls from Snowy River, who were dressed as stockmen and paid tribute to the song The Man from Snowy River.

Both teams placed in the top four, with The Girls from Snowy River team taking outright victory with a score of 167, while the Smurfs team finished fourth on countback, scoring 154.5.

The winning team was Cotto, Gould, Ella Parker and Neve Nisbet, while the Smurfs team consisted of Lillian Stephenson, Violet Stephenson, Charli Catto and Zeva Missen.

The goldfields were well-represented in the final finishing positions, with the Maryborough/ Harcourt combined team finishing in fifth position.

In the mounted games competition, Bealiba scored consistently throughout the event to finish with 340 points, just missing out on a podium finish on countback.
