Startup is a 12-week program offering an opportunity for participants to focus on testing their startup idea in a safe and supportive environment.

Apart from two days held in Bendigo, the masterclasses are delivered online each week making them easy to attend no matter where you live in the region.

Program manager, Kerry Anderson said the program can facilitate attendees regardless of where they are in starting their project.

“Some already have business experience but have a new idea that they want to focus on. Others have no prior business knowledge or network to lean on but want to have a go. This is what Startup Central Victoria offers,” she said.

“Over 12 weeks participants focus on their startup idea through a series of masterclasses delivered by business professionals within the region and supported by experienced business mentors.”

Previous program participant Amy Cockroft said she was surprised by the calibre of the presenter and mentors.

“This program has taken us to places we didn’t expect and linked us to people that we wouldn’t have met. We are leaps ahead of where we would have been if we had tried to do this on our own,” she said.

Now in it’s fifth year of operation, Start Up Central Victoria has given valuable support to 83 startup teams and the outcomes have been significant.

“Over 70 percent of the startups have either been launched or are still progressing,” says Kerry. “And for those that fear failure, proving that your idea isn’t viable is also an excellent outcome. You aren’t left wondering and you’ve gained new knowledge and connections to benefit your next idea,” Ms Anderson said.

“Just do it, you have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

Upon completing the program, Culum Revell launched his drone servicing business, Daedulux.

He is now collaborating with other startups to extend his reach to a state and national level.

“Being a part of the program has opened up other opportunities for me,” he said.

Locals who are interested are encouraged to lodge an expression of interest as soon as possible. More information can be found at startupcv.com.au

The program commences on Sunday, June 22.
