1 min read

Highland Gold put in a huge effort during its midweek clash with Talbot this week, knocking the champion out of its ladder leading position.

Ends were fairly even, but it was Highland’s multiple scoring that made the difference.

Rhonda Watkins and her rink were able to build a compelling lead with scores of fives, fours and threes enabling them to comfortably defeat Talbot’s Noreen Norris 34-12.

Sherry Simpson defeated Barbara Crossley by eight and Shirley Huggett won by nine over Cathy Salagari.

Talbot with this loss drop to fourth on the ladder.

Avoca hosted Dunolly Gold on their new green, winning quite comfortably, two rinks to one.

Loralee Field was Avoca’s only casualty going down 16-19 to Robyn Fox from Dunolly.

Ann Loosmore and Chris Bearpark were able to cover this loss with both rinks winning by 10 shots each against Dunolly’s Jill Morse and Marilyn Mortlock.

Highland Tartan accounted for Golf Blue and although they too lost one rink by six when Brenda Lind (Golf) defeated Jeanette Oliver, the other two Tartan skippers were untroubled.

Jan Turner (31) won over Liz Bucknall (14) and Tilly Wadeson (27) defeated Judy Cassidy (14).

Dunolly Blue recorded the biggest overall victory defeating Carisbrook by 52 shots.

Once again multiple rinks produced high scores with Dunolly’s three rinks all contributing.

Heather Freemantle won 36-9 over Kathy Upson, Jenny McHugh had a 28-11 win against Kathy Wheat and Loretta Parker completed the trifecta defeating Denise Matic by eight shots.
