Natte Bealiba marked a special occasion in their last game before the weekend bye when they were able to field a team made up of members from two club stalwart families.
The last few minutes of the B grade game between the Swans and Newstead saw both the Mortlock and Martin families field the court together, with the Mortlocks represented by mother Kylie, daughters Sian and Eve, and the Martins represented by mother Sharelle and daughters Lavinia, Ellie and Ruby Martin.
The Swans marked the occasion with a 54-23 win over Newstead.
Natte Bealiba netball delegate Naomi Medlyn said it was a pleasant surprise to see both families on the court.
“It was pretty cool, seeing them all up there. Coach Sue Borserio managed to make it work, she had all the Martins up one end of the court and all the Mortlocks up the other end of the court, so they got to play in the same third as each other,” she said.
“I didn’t think they’d all get on together — the younger daughters are pretty young, so I didn’t expect them all to get on at once.
“Overall, it was really cool. You always, as a parent, have a dream to play with your kids and to see all of them do so was very, very special. And the club was happy to see it.”
The club has enjoyed a strong season so far across the board in the netball division, with six of their seven teams in juniors and seniors sitting comfortably in the top eight, with A grade and B grade both sitting in the top two.
Medlyn is hoping for more special moments for the club this season.
“I hope there’s a lot more special moments. Premierships would be lovely, we’ve had some strong sides that can do that, and also a few milestones throughout the season, it’s great to be back and have a proper season,” she said.
Natte now look ahead to a meeting with Maldon on Saturday afternoon.
