Fundraising efforts to support the installation of a rooftop solar panel system at the Dunolly Neighbourhood Centre (DNC) are ramping up.
Centre coordinator Kath Ryan said she is confident the community will get behind the initiative — with the goal to raise $10,000 — by supporting the recently launched raffle.
“There are great prizes to be won, including a wheelbarrow, bottles of wine, shopping vouchers and a range of goods that have been donated by local businesses,” she said.
“We will be holding a Spring Fling event at the DNC to further engage the community in the solar panels project and to draw the raffle.
“The fundraising committee is inviting the community to join in the fun on the day by dressing up in recycled clothing in line with the sustainability theme.
“There will also be a number of people strutting their stuff on the Upcycled Runway.
“I am looking forward to a unique fashion parade for those happy to enter and this promises to be an extremely entertaining spectacle. Among the prizes for the Upcycled Runway is an exquisite handmade quilt.”
The project has so far been supported by a Maryborough Rotary Club barbecue, grant from the Maldon and District Community Bank, and donation from More Australian Solar Homes.
Raffle tickets will be on sale over the coming weeks at the Dunolly Market and in the Maryborough shopping centre.
Tickets can also be purchased at the Dunolly Neighbourhood Centre at 18 Havelock Street.
The raffle will be drawn at the Spring Fling on September 23.
