Maryborough’s quest for survival in division one of the Ballarat District Soccer Association (BDSA) hit a snag on the weekend, when they were beaten 7-1 by Daylesford.
A first-half brace from Santosh Kandel, and a 34th minute goal to James Milesi, meant Maryborough were up against it from the 20th minute onwards, with Daylesford scoring three goals in 15 minutes to lead 3-0 at the main break.
Three more goals in six minutes after the break sealed the three points for Daylesford, with Kandel completing his hattrick in the 49th minute, while Prasanna Thapa got on the scoreboard in the 53rd minute. Kandel added his fourth in the 55th minute.
Mitchell Gardam added a goal in the 65th minute for Maryborough, but the damage was done, with Zach Koleski adding some icing on the cake for Daylesford in the 71st minute.
Maryborough are now the only winless team in the BDSA, and will be hoping to bounce back this weekend when they host fifth-placed Bacchus Marsh on Sunday at Jubilee Oval.
