Maryborough Soccer Club will be hoping to take their improved form into a clash with second-placed Forest Rangers at Wendouree West on Sunday.

The blue and whites have been desperately unlucky not to claim a good result in their last five matches, and have been very competitive in that timeframe.

Forest Rangers will represent a big test, especially after disposing of Creswick 5-2 in their last game before the break.

However, Maryborough will also have a point to prove, and will be determined to continue to frustrate their opposition, just as they did to top team Vikings in their last game before the bye, which saw them only lower their colours late on in a 3-0 loss.

Nevertheless, despite sitting on the bottom without a win, Maryborough have been impressive in the early stages of the season, particularly defensively, where they have the fifth best defence in the competition with 21 goals conceded.

However, they will look to continue working on their scoring, only scoring on nine occasions so far this season.

The under 14s will look to back up a thrilling victory against Vikings when they travel to Pleasant Street to face Ballarat White.

With just one point separating the two teams, a victory will be crucial for Maryborough’s chances of sticking with the top three.

Maryborough’s under nines will host games at Coronation Park on Sunday morning, with Maryborough Blue hosting Bacchus Marsh Yellow, followed by Maryborough Gold hosting Ballarat North United Black.
