Jake Bucknall and his Maryborough Soccer Club teammates will be looking for an important result this weekend when they travel to Bacchus Marsh, having just missed out on a second victory of the season against Bacchus Marsh.

Despite their best efforts last week, the blue-and-whites weren’t quite able to take victory against Daylesford, despite managing to go into the final 15 minutes of the game all deadlocked with their opponent.

That came after a strong 15-minute spell for Daylesford gave them the first goal of the game, before Johno Melton equalised on the cusp of half time.

Maryborough will be hoping to channel their disappointment into a positive result against Bacchus Marsh, with the Scorpions one of two teams the blue-and-whites have taken points from this season.

In round five, the blue-and-whites drew 2-2 with the Scorpions, with a brace to David Scofield allowing them to take a point away, despite goals from Daniel Jones and Jalen Shugg giving the Scorpions a chance.

Elsewhere, it will be a fascinating curtain-raiser in the under 14s, with third-placed Bacchus Marsh hosting the fifth-placed Maryborough.

It will be the first meeting since round five, with Maryborough hoping to turn around a 5-1 loss that day to give themselves a chance of moving up the ladder.

Last week, they were gallant against a well-drilled Daylesford outfit, eventually losing 4-0.

The under nines will be on the road this week, with Maryborough Blue travelling to Victoria Park, while Maryborough Gold will face Daylesford in Daylesford.
