An urgent national recall has been issued for popular smoked fish products sold at IGA supermarkets after possible listeria contamination.

The recall was announced by Product Safety Australia on Tuesday, citing that listeria had been found in five food products that are produced by seafood company Harris Smokehouse.

The products have been sold in IGA and Foodland stores across Australia, except for Tasmania.

Items that are affected include:
• Hot smoked barramundi barcode 9345902000644 — 150 g, use by 28/7/2022 through to 4/8/2022
• Hot smoked trout blackening spice barcode: 9345902000606 — 150 g, use by 1/8/2022 through to 4/8/2022
• Everyday smashed smoked salmon barcode: 9345902000552 — 150 g, use by 20/7/2022 through to 28/7/2022
• Premium smoked salmon barcode: 9345902000019 — 100 g, 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg, use by 18/7/2022 through to 8/8/2022
• Smoked salmon trimmings barcode: 9345902000064 – 250 g, use by 25/7/2022 through to 29/7/2022.

Hazards of listeriosis can cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, as well as the elderly and people with low immune systems, with symptoms including fever, chills, neck stiffness, vomiting and confusion, which can remain active for up to six weeks after exposure.
