Small Engines roars open
With an array of customers already waiting with their machines days after opening, no job is too big for Mitch’s Small Engines.
Mitchell Nisbet has taken on a brand new business of his own, putting Maryborough’s newest shop in gear, his expansive Husquvana dealership.
Located at 92 Napier Street, the store commenced operation first thing last Monday morning, already seeing a fleet of mowers lined up out the back either waiting for repair, or ready for pick up.
While the business will specialise in Husqvanas, all work will extend to any brand of lawn mower, ride on mower or chainsaw for servicing, part replacement and repair
Mr Nisbet said the business’ recent “soft” launch comes as a transition from Crameri’s workshop into a bigger workshop offering ample repairs.
“Rod and I are both from the original Crameri’s workshop, and had been there for roughly six years, the opportunity came up to purchase the business... this suits our needs much better, it’s a bigger location, we can offer more services, and expand it. Nothing wrong about Crameri’s at all, this is just so we can expand,” he said.
“It’s a soft launch with basic trading at the moment, once we get the accounts underway, we will do a big opening and let everyone know.”
A life long “tinkerer”, Mr Nisbet has taken on the reins of the brand new business, following the closure of Crameri’s workshop.
“Growing up on a farm, I worked on engines a little bit, just tinkering with stuff,” he said.
“We are offering all the same services, repairs for any brand, mainly Husqvarna but any brand is welcome here, we will do the best that we can to repair it.
“We will offer spare parts, we can order things in, deliveries and pick ups as well, even chain saw sharpenings.”
Mr Nisbet’s main accomplice, Rod Coupland is thrilled to not only join a former apprentice, but to work along side him.
“Three weeks ago, I was in charge, now, he’s in charge. There was a decision to take on an apprentice five and a half years ago, and Mitchell got it. Once he got the qualification, I used to say ‘he’s just the mechanic, I’m just the hired help’,” he said.
“For me, it’s very good to see Mitchell as a young man at the start of his working life, start up a business, I’ve been able to follow him and I’ll be able to watch even more growth before I retire.
“I’m very happy to come on with Mitchell and set this up because it’s going to be a real beauty, already we’ve got lots of customers come in. He’s a great kid.”
The pair are already undertaking numerous repairs and services, they are looking forward to the entirety of stock filling the front end of their business in the coming weeks.
