The trip to Trentham wasn’t a happy day for the Bulldogs as they were trounced by a very accurate Saints team by 158 points.

It was a record score by the Saints over the Bulldogs, and it was led by Sam Winnard who was on fire up forward kicking 10 goals to follow up from his 14-goal haul against Rovers in round five. His tally is now 36 for the season, which is just 12 goals behind Carisbrook’s Anthony Zelencich on 48 goals.

The accuracy of the Saints forwards was on show when they kicked 13 goals straight before their first behind just before half time in a dominant performance, keeping the Bulldogs to three goals in the first half and goalless after half time.

Jake Keogh also slotted another six goals to sit in second place on the goal kicking table on 41 goals.

The Saints dominated possession out of the middle through Joel Cowan, Nathan Rodgers, Keogh and Alister Ferrier to set up the key forwards.

The Bulldogs tried hard but were no match for the rampaging Saints who showed why they are one of the premiership fancies at the halfway mark of the season.

Trentham named their best players as Winnard, Cowan,Rodgers, Ferrier, Joel Dovaston and Keogh.

The Bulldogs better players were Scott Cawthan, Jordan Hayes, Darcy Carey, Jaye Farnsworth, Byron Wynd and Cameron Antonio.
