A seven-goal final quarter helped Trentham run away with a 68-point win over Lexton.

The game was a lot tighter than the scoreboard suggested, with a plucky Lexton keeping in touch for the first three quarters.

The Tigers certainly had their opportunities in the first quarter, enjoying six scoring shots, but were only rewarded with one goal. The Saints, on the other hand, fared slightly better, kicking three goals from eight shots.

The game remained a dour battle in the second quarter. Lexton were able to take their opportunties, kicking two goals, while Trentham likewise kicked two goals, but also missed four, to extend the margin slightly at the long break.

Trentham started to flex their muscle a little bit in the third quarter, kicking four goals from 10 shots on goal, but Lexton were keeping up, kicking three goals, keeping the Saints honest by three-quarter-time, trailing by 28.

But a powerful last quarter performance saw Trentham kick seven goals to three behinds as they extended the margin beyond 10 goals.

Jake Keogh was dominant, kicking five goals to be named best on ground for the Saints, while Joel Dovaston, Hayden Sundblom, Harrison Knight, Tristan Knight and Joel Cowan also performed well, with Sundblom and Knight adding three goals.

For Lexton, Josh Sargent, Adrian Verhoeven, Thomas Cullinan, Keltyn Rinaldi, Shaun Field and James Templeton were all named in their best, while Darren Cook kicked three goals.
