Residents eager to find out more about the redevelopment of the Maryborough Hospital are being encouraged to come along to an information session later this month.

Two sessions will be held by the Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) and the Victorian Health Building Authority to give residents the chance to meet with the project team and see the early designs for the new hospital.

The project is being delivered thanks to a $100 million investment from the Victorian Government and will include a new urgent care centre and a 32-bed inpatient/birthing unit including two new birthing suites.

It will also feature two operating theatres and recovery spaces, a day medical centre with imaging, renal, oncology and pathology services, consultant suites and reception area, and additional onsite parking.

“We know there is a lot of excitement and interest about the hospital redevelopment, which will help us meet the needs of our growing population in central Victoria,” MDHS director of infrastructure, technology and experience and deputy CEO David Edwards said.

“This is your chance to meet with the project team and find out more about this significant $100 million project for the region. We will have the early designs and proposed layouts, developed by architects Silver Thomas Hanley on display.

“We’ll also be sharing what we heard from a recent community survey on what people would like to see in the new hospital.

“The feedback from the survey has been shared with the project team to help shape the final designs and improve the patient experience in the new build.”

Construction is set to begin in early 2023, and completed by late 2024.

The information sessions will take place on August 30, with one running from 3 to 4.30 pm, and a second from 7 to 8.30 pm. Both will be held at the Maryborough Resource Centre at 91 Nolan Street, Maryborough.
