Seniors get crafty
The Maryborough Senior Citizens Club is ready to get their weave on and express their creative side with next weekend’s Craft Fair and Market.
Suggested by the senior citizens craft group, club president Veronika Miles said the event is a great opportunity for residents to experience everything crafting.
“We have got some stalls for people who want to sell craft or sell things to do with craft like kits, needles and threads,” she said.
“There are also people doing some craft demonstrations on how to write on your mug and hopefully a weaving demonstration, we are also going to do morning tea.
“We had one a few years ago and we had a people’s choice award which we are trying to have this year where people can put in a craft item and let people vote on what they like.”
The senior citizens club, located on 52a Alma Street, aims to keep local elders socially active with fellow retirees and Veronika said next weekend’s event is no exception.
“It shows the public what the senior citizens club can achieve,” she said.
“This town has got a lot of seniors and we have so many different events happening at the senior citizens so it’s just a way of opening up our club.”
The Craft Fair and Market at the Maryborough Senior Citizens Club will run from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, November 9.
