The Redbacks’ inaugural game at their home ground after renovations saw a big crowd watch the team, but although they fought hard against Redan, the Lions were just too slick with their ball use, winning by 133 points.
Eight goals in the second quarter helped set up the Lions, although the Lady Redbacks fought hard to ensure the Lions didn’t blow the margin out in the second half.
Olivia Butler, Julianne Baldock, Tara Curtis, Anika Munn and Maddison Smith were named in the best for the Lady Redbacks.
They’ll now face a Lake Wendouree team with the determination to ensure there is no repeat of their previous match-up in round four, which saw the Lakers win by 184 points.
Carisbrook’s under 16 team will take some major confidence into their clash with second-placed North Ballarat, moving up to sixth on the ladder with a 55-point win over Darley.
It was the Lady Redbacks’ second consecutive win, which gives them a fighting chance of making the finals.
Three goals in the second quarter broke the game open, with the Lady Redbacks scoring at least one major in every quarter to eventually run away with victory.
Charlotte Metters was best on ground, ably assisted by Ella Gourley, Eden Weaver, Emme Johnson, Maddison Smith and Ella Crofts, with Metters and Remi Jardine kicking two goals apiece.
