If Terry Floyd was still here, he would have turned 61 on Wednesday, and with his brother Daryl in tow, together they’d celebrate his birthday.

The pair would have probably gone fishing, just like they did as kids — before Terry went missing.

“Every anniversary, or special day, there’s always memories that come back to me and it makes you think of all the what ifs,” Daryl said.

Terry was abducted on June 28, 1975 — months after his 12th birthday.

Now, almost five decades later, Daryl has continued to persevere through the pain, searching for answers.

But things could finally be moving forward after retired homicide detective Charlie Bezzina took on the case as a private investigator last year.

Since then, Mr Bezzina has collected important pieces of information — including details about where Terry was last seen.

To build some clarity around those recent witness statements, Daryl is encouraging residents who might have seen any suspicious activity around the Bung Bong area in 1978, three years after Terry’s disappearance.

“We’d like to hear from people who might have information about anyone [going about] that location in October, November and December,” he said.

“The area that is of interest to us is between Box Flat Track and the Optus repeater tower.

“If people can recall anyone doing things around that site please let us know.”

In the coming months, Mr Bezzina will hand over a report with all the statements and further recommendations, to Victoria Police Homicide Squad and the Missing Persons Squad.

Anyone with information regarding Terry’s disappearance is encouraged to contact Mr Bezzina and other investigators at findingterryfloyd@gmail.com or by phoning a new hotline set up by Stop Line Call Centre at 1800 491 697.
