Newstead were hoping to bounce back onto the winners list after coming off a surprise loss to Maryborough Rovers, but it was a tough chore against third placed Trentham who won by 58 points.

The Saints were never really challenged as they led from start to finish averaging five goals a quarter, and the game was safely in their keeping by half time.

The final quarter was the closest of the day, but the Saints had taken their foot off the pedal and were coasting their way to the finish line.

Jake Keogh was again difficult to counter in front of the Saints’ scoring zone as he slotted another six goals to move to 55 goals, as he sits second the goal scoring table behind Carisbrook’s Anthony Zelencich.

Trentham’s better players were Harrison Knight, who added four goals, Dylan Holden, Keogh, Alister Ferrier, Mark Strickland and Joseph Sammut.

Newstead was well served by Brad Richardson, Daniel Keane, Anthony Robins, Rhys Smith, Mitch Hough, and Angus Mayes.
