Trentham were able to defeat Royal Park by 85 points at Trentham Reserve on Saturday, but it was an impressive effort from the Tigers to maintain competitiveness throughout.

Indeed, it was a brilliant start from the Tigers as they were playing their final away game in one of the league’s toughest trips, and they were able to keep the Saints honest in the opening term as both teams kicked three goals apiece.

The Saints led by three points at the first change, but were forced into action by Bushy’s bright start, and kicked seven goals to one in the second term to make things a little bit more comfortable, taking a 43-point lead at the main break.

The third quarter again showed the Saints’ class as they kicked seven goals, but Royal Park, to their credit, were hanging in there, kicking four goals of their own to keep the margin at 64 points at the last change.

Trentham again won the final quarter, kicking six goals, while Royal Park added three.

Four players kicked three goals for the Saints, with Nathan Rodgers, Alister Ferrier, Mark Strickland and Sam Winnard achieving the feat, with Joel Dovaston, Zach Gervasoni, Strickland, Dylan Holden, Rodgers and Adam Raak named in the best.

For Royal Park, who now turn their attention to their final game next week against Talbot, Jacob Rollason had an outstanding individual game, kicking six goals, while playing-coach Mark Ashmore, Murray Bond, Lachlan Bates, Jack Broad and Declan Wagstaff were also named in the best.
